There, I tried my first barbacoa taco, tender and aromatic, and a bowl of barbacoa broth, from a tarped stall in the middle of everything. The Anthropology Museum,the trip to the 'pyramids' outside the city limits and a full day private guided walking tour of the city center and Chapultepec Park/Castle and surrounding area were especially impressive.We stayed in the Polanco district(Hyatt Hotel and very nice accommodations) and ate at La Unica, Saks(Polanco location), Aqua y Sol and Lampuga - all except Lampuga were excellent(Especially Saks).Lampuga was the most expensive and the service and food was not as good as the others and I would not recommend eating there.This is the 'dry season' and June marks the beginning of the rainy season.If you go, be sure to take sun screen lotion as at over 7,000 feet elevation it is all too easy to sunburn while walking around.The first day I visited Mexico City, my host picked me up at the airport with a paper sign and took me directly to the enormous wholesale market Central de Abastos, which is about the size of 600 football fields. nice and there are many wonderful sites to see. Although the traffic is worse than LA or other major US cities and smog/air pollution with all the cars is definitely a problem, the people were very.
